Here at Bristol Baptist College we have always enjoyed bringing together students from around the UK, with different backgrounds, passions, and experiences. It’s so exciting to know that our students are making a difference in their local communities, and heartening to see how God is forming them, too.

Our courses are designed in such a way that students do not need to uproot their lives to access them.

Finances

 

We understand that one of the biggest obstacles for students can be finances. While course fees remain the responsibility of the students and their church, we never want it to stop potential leaders and ministers from preparing for ministry. 

Our students are welcome to discuss individual concerns with Abi, our Student Support, but more general information can be found below.

Student Finance

If you are studying an academic course and live in England, you may be able to access partial funding through Student Finance England. This includes all Undergraduate courses, our Taught Master’s course, and our research degrees, whether studied full- or part-time. Check your eligibility on the Student Finance England website for an Undergraduate Loan, for a Postgraduate Loan, or for a Postgraduate Doctoral Loan. Unfortunately, Student Finance is currently not available to students living in Wales, Scotland, or Ireland but some of the options below may be of use.

Student Finance England is changing for courses starting from January 2027, so even if you were not eligible in the past, it is worth double-checking with Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE) coming in. Find out more on Student Finance England.

Disabled Student Allowance (DSA)

Eligible students may be able to access funding with a Disabled Student Allowance if they have a disability that affects their studies.

  • This includes a specific learning disability (SpLD), a mental health condition, sensory disability, or a long-term health condition. You must be studying an academic course with us to access this, and meet the eligibility criteria listed on Gov.uk.

College Bursaries

Students on any course are invited to apply for a College Bursary. The funds are reserved for students who have exhausted all other avenues and would find the cost of studying prohibitive otherwise.

  • The bursary can be applied for once the academic year has started; applications are carefully considered and funds are allocated on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the total funds available.

    Bursaries can be applied for by:

    • Disciple Makers students

    • Ministerial Formation students

    • Equipping Missional Disciples students

    • Academic students

Grants

There are many grant-making organisations just waiting for you to get in touch and apply for financial support.

  • Whether you are on an academic course only or part of our formational courses, it is worth searching for a related grant.

Payment Plans

Payment plans are available for all our courses, allowing you to spread your payments over a longer period.

Support from the Church, friends, and family

Students may be able to access financial support from their church as a sign of investment in their growth.

  • Students often approach friends and family for support; we have heard many testimonies over the years of how finances have come from the most unexpected places.
