Disciple-Makers is a training programme for those who want to be better equipped to serve Jesus as whole-life disciple-making disciples.
Disciple-Makers will run over 26 Wednesdays of the academic year (08.30-17.00, between mid-September and May) alongside Bristol Baptist College’s Wednesday ministerial students.
Disciple-Makers is designed for theology students, those exploring a call to Christian service, those who work for churches as Interns or in some other volunteer capacity (such as youth work, pastoral care etc), and those who want to deepen their roots as Jesus-centred disciples.
Alongside the teaching, you will be part of a pastoral tutor group, have theological reflection time, a shared lunch, a weekly Communion Service, access to the college library and 3 personal supervision sessions during the year. (Please be aware that due to the current covid-19 pandemic the course is being delivered entirely online. We hope to return to in-person sessions as soon as it is safe to do so.)
Disciple-Makers will help you explore and develop FOUR key areas of discipleship:
- Biblical Studies
- Personal Spirituality
- High Impact Discipleship
- Practical Skills for Everyday Discipleship, including voice coaching.
No formal qualifications are required for Disciple-Makers, though an initial interview will assess suitability for the programme. Completion of the Disciple-Makers year will lead to a Bristol Baptist College certificate presented at the annual Valedictory Service in June.
Working at a placement is not a required element of this course, but if you would like to gain experience serving in a church or pioneer context during your studies, we offer a church link up service. You can read more about that here.
Here’s what some of our Disciple-Makers students had to say about the course.
“Disciple Makers has encouraged me in the areas I feel least confident. For example, speaking and sharing my thoughts. I also feel more confident in what it means to be a disciple through the teaching.”
“It’s been really interesting to delve into the various aspects of discipleship and the sessions have stuck with me throughout. It has also been great to take these into my own life and use them in church as well as looking into how I can incorporate them into secular life.”
