Creative Conversations Follow Up Day

CMS Watlington Road, Oxford, United Kingdom
Creative Conversations seeks to give priority to the voices of those who experience marginalisation, exclusion and deprivation. The project fosters careful and thoughtful listening with the intention that the voices of others will challenge and inform the responses of our own Christian communities. Creative Conversations helps Christian groups explore the everyday experiences of those who find themselves marginalised and excluded in various ways from mainstream society. By introducing basic research methods that can be used in daily life, Creative Conversations aims to introduce new depth to the way we listen to others in our day-to-day encounters. Creative Conversations was launched in March 2015 and the purpose of this day is to work together to further understand and develop it as a practical tool for research which can be used in a wide variety of contexts. With this in mind we would like to invite you to find out more and perhaps join us in this journey of learning to join with us in November. The aim of the Creative Conversations Follow-Up Day is: o To hear presentations from those who have been involved in the first round and to learn from their experiences about how to develop this as a practical research method o To learn more together about the theory and practice of convening conversational spaces which enable people of difference to engage more deeply with each other. o To share more about the theological thinking behind Creative Conversations and how this approach might help us to explore ways of approaching mission in marginalised places o To meet others who are exploring similar approaches. The day will be held at CMS, Watlington Road, Oxford, OX4 6BZ http://pioneer.cms-uk.org/pioneer-mission-leadership-training-course/about/howtofindus/ The day itself is free of charge. Lunch will be available to buy at the CMS canteen. Please book into the day by email to Mike Pears at the address below. Ash Barker: From Bangkok to Bristol

ashbarkerAfter 25 years of urban mission in Melbourne and Bangkok, Ash Barker with wife Anji and son Aiden are now immersed in the life of Winson Green, Birmingham, where they have founded and lead Newbigin House. Ash was the founding director of Urban Neighbours of Hope, and is the current director of Micah Global’s International Society for Urban Mission. Ash has been invited to reflect on the question: what have you learned about the nature of incarnational missional communities through your time in Bangkok? How might these insights both shape and challenge our approach to mission in a city like Bristol? Tickets are free to book but we ask for a £5 donation on the day. Please book your tickets at http://ashbarker.eventbrite.co.uk
