Voltrain logoIt is estimated that around 10% of young people self-harm at some point, and the reality is that not everyone seeks help, so this figure may well be higher. There are many different reasons why young people self-harm, and many different forms that self-harm can take.

This workshop will explore some of the reasons young people self-harm, some of the ways you can identify when someone might be self-harming, and some of the ways you can support a young person who is self-harming.

Led by Emma Duncan, BA Hons in Youth Work, MSc in Counselling. Emma has been working with young people for 20 years, first as a youth worker, then in vice and now as a counsellor and in education.

VolTrain is a partnership between several organisations, including Bristol City Council, to equip, resource and train volunteer youth workers in the Bristol area. It is open to all volunteer youth workers across both statutory and voluntary sectors and is completely free. Paid workers may also attend if they are accompanying volunteers.
