Children, Youth & Family Based

Baptist ministry comes in all shapes and sizes, including a calling to Children, Youth and Families. Our Children, Youth and Family based pathway in Ministerial Formation allows for a recognition of the importance of these areas alongside academic study. This pathway provides students with exciting opportunities to integrate learning in the classroom with practice in their context. It allows students to get hands-on experience in ministry from the word go, with the support of an external adviser and college tutor.

The minister-in-training would ideally be in a context where they can apply their academic and formational study to the lives of Children, Youth and Families that they are working with. These students will train alongside the ministerial students on other pathways, and will be encouraged to take modules that relate more directly to Children, Youth and Families. Students can be congregation-based, college-based, or pioneers.

Indicative taught modules:

  • Research and Reflection: Resources and Methods
  • Ministry and Mission with Children, Families and Young People
  • Advanced Theory and Method in Practical Theology
  • Spirituality of the Child

Students may also take modules in other subject areas, e.g.;

  • Reflective Practice: Mission and Evangelism
  • Advanced New Testament Studies – Hebrews
  • Themes in Moral Theology
  • Chaplaincy and Christian Mission
