BA, BA, PhD, Coordinator of Theological Education
Before joining the college in 2012 Peter Hatton was the minister of Methodist churches in the West Country and the Midlands. His scholarly activity over the last twenty-five years has been combined with pastoral charge over large churches and he is passionate about helping pastors, preachers and teachers to draw on the deep wells of scripture to equip them in their missionary encounters with the world.
Peter read English Literature at Christ’s College Cambridge and Theology at the University of Bristol (where he still does some part-time teaching) and completed his Doctorate with Gerard Norton at the University of Birmingham. He is an enthusiastic, if very unfit, cyclist and a supporter of Sustrans (which promotes environmentally sustainable transport systems). Other interests include dog-walking, reading (favourite modern novelist, Barbara Pym) and supporting the Irish Rugby Team.
Peter is responsible for Theological Studies at the College, and teaches Hebrew and Biblical Studies.
