Michael comes to the College with many years’ experience of working in specialist libraries. Most recently, he was librarian at Wesley College Bristol, until its closure in a restructuring of Methodist theological education. Having cared there for important historic collections, he was then appointed as archivist for a Catholic Religious order, a role he combines with his commitments in College.
He is interested in church history and the development of doctrine, and also the fields of library and book history. For lighter relief he enjoys discovering lesser-known 19th and 20th century literature, or fiddling with things mechanical.
He worships at St Edyth’s, Sea Mills, where he sometimes helps with the Sunday school by confusing the younger children.
